Campamento | 08

Time for Camp!  In the DR that happens to be February.  So, with a host of locals, a team of Canadians, and over a hundred energetic children Campamento 2008 was underway this month under the banner of Poderoso in Oracion  (Powerful in Prayer).  Campers explored this theme through praise, teaching, cabin time with friends and leaders, great food, lots of treats, art, and splashing in the pool (yup, it's that warm:)--a  time to enjoy friends and share in learning more about Jesus.
While it seemed that a bit of a plague (ok, colds and sore throats) descended on many of the camp leaders and visiting Canadians the camp was a real blessing to be a part of.  Camper cabins represented different countries: Haiti, Dominican Republic, Canada, China, Mexico, Colombia, and Kenya.  Special attention was given toward understanding these countries and how we the campers could join in God's work through prayer for the people of these nations.

Los Pomos

I enjoy following people around--especially with a camera.  To see their world and see how it can be captured...at least insofar as photos can "capture" one's world.  Over the past month I have been joining the church planting team as they visit friends in various homes another barrio, los Pomos.  We pull up on motorcycles or mopeds (pasolas)...or foot, receive warm greetings, are quickly served coffee, and share in life-conversation: learnings, questions, ideas.  At one home it may look like a Bible study, at another it is installing a water purifier, and at another it may simply listening to a friend share their heart.  Whatever shape the time may take--the vibe (the heart) is that people would encounter Jesus, see an expression of his love, grace and grow in understanding of what it means to find your story in His--what He has done and is doing.
