"When I Grow Up I Want To Be..."

Despite what you may be thinking this is not a question I was posing to myself (not today...maybe yesterday?!) Today, however, this was the question Fey and I were asking various students at the T.E.A.R.S. School: "What do you want to be when you 'grow up'?" I was hoping for some responses that reflect an interdisciplinary interest in the cross-pollination and engagement of multiple vocational streams...you know, some angst and tension that suggests we don't need to zero in on one profession when we supposedly "grow up". Just a thought.

However, these students had clear ideas of what they wanted to "be" and why. There were some aspiring astronauts, doctors, a lawyer, teachers, a handfull of baseball players, an architect, a pilot, and a truck driver. It was fun to hear the students' dreams and see the excitement in their eyes as they shared. While realizing these students face various challenges today and obstacles to realizing their vision they are in a place where they are believed in and treated like various marketplace leaders they dream of becoming. More to come when the video is ready!

It was fun...will continue to be fun:) Fun to hear their ideas...especially when they talk so "cutely".
